World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated each year with a variety of events and activities in cities worldwide to increase people’s awareness and understanding of the importance of intellectual property. This will be the first celebration in Alaska so we invite you to come and partner with us and join a distinguished group of entrepreneurs, investors, corporate executives and community leaders that include Mayor Berkowitz of Anchorage, the Governor’s Office, the Executive Director of the National Council of Entrepreneurial Tech Transfer – Tony Stanco, the Executive Producer and President of Studio Operations of Mirror Studios – Charles Hewitt, the Managing Partner New Venture Partners who was also the former Chair of the National Venture Capital Association – Steve Socolof to celebrate this first time event. In addition to speakers, we’ll be having an exciting Innovation Competition. This competition will include the categories of: Most Beneficial to Alaska, Most Beneficial Globally, Most Likely to Succeed as a Business, and Most Transformative Idea.
The agenda will include:
- Speakers and Panelists from the USPTO, Mayor of Anchorage, venture capital firms, NCET2, angel investors, entrepreneurs and corporate leaders.
- A contest for “Innovative Ideas” with prizes for: Most Beneficial to Alaska, Most Beneficial Globally, Most likely to Succeed as a Business, Most Transformative Idea.
- The finale will be a dinner at UAA’s Lucy Cuddy Fine Dining Room where the Innovative Idea awards will be presented. A new inventor will also be inducted into the UAA Patent Wall of Fame, followed by a fireside discussion with the audience and representatives from the USPTO and speakers.
